Song of the Day – “The Ragpicker’s Dream” – Mark Knopfler

I think this is one of the most beautiful songs ever. The instrumentation is exquisite.

But the rolling, repetitive melody is in service to beautiful words about tragic circumstances – homelessness and scrounging for every meal or an occasional drink.

The sadness makes it more beautiful. And I don’t know how I should feel about that.
