Song of the Day – “Spanish Harlem” – Aretha Franklin

This Leiber/Stoller tune had been kicking around for at least a decade, hitting the charts for Ben E. King, before Aretha covered it in 1971. But Ms. Franklin has a way of making songs her own, and this was no exception, charting eight places higher than King’s version at #2.
