Song of the Day – “When a Man Loves a Woman” – Percy Sledge
April 16, 2015 Leave a comment
When I was a young man, singing in choirs and in solo competitions, I was told that shouting has no part in music. That may well be true, if you’re trying to get across the quality of your voice or the beauty of a melody.
But what if you’re wanting to communicate strong emotion? What if you are struck blind by an unreasoning love?
If she is bad, he can’t see it, she can do no wrong
Turn his back on his best friend if he put her down
In that case, shout it out. Shout it like Percy did. Any time is the wrong time to lose a man like Percy Sledge – gone at age 73.
