Song of the Day – “Name’s the same” Tuesday – “Too Bad”

Eric Clapton – Let’s Active

Not all of the blues numbers Clapton has played are Robert Johnson covers. By immersing himself in the blues, he got to where he could write the songs himself. This tune, as far as I can tell, was only released as part of his Crossroads box set, but was a live staple.

It’s too bad I don’t miss you
‘Cause you are always on my mind.
It’s too bad I don’t miss you
‘Cause you are always on my mind.
I want to stay around your circle
And learn to love you all the time.

.

Most of Let’s Active’s output was much poppier than this, as you’d expect from frontman Mitch Easter. But on their last album, 1988’s Every Dog Has His Day, Easter and the gang kicked out the jams. Makes you wonder how they would have continued.
