Song of the Day – “Beat’s So Lonely” – Charlie Sexton

This Austin blues-rocker was only 16 when he made his first album, Pictures for Pleasure, in 1985. The producers gave his album a new wave sound, and it ended up containing his only “hit”, “Beat’s So Lonely”.

The sound isn’t all that distinctive, and reminiscent of other mid-80s hits. His cheekbones obviously had a big part in getting him signed. But all in all, this song is music they don’t make anymore, and it’s kind of a shame.
