Song of the Day – “Name’s the same” Tuesday – “Shining Star”

Earth, Wind and Fire – Manhattans

Two great R&B numbers today.

The late great Maurice White, with brother Verdine on bass. The high vocals by Philip Bailey, The horns! The percussion! All join together to make one of the greatest bands of all time.

.

The Manhattans formed in 1962 across the river in New Jersey as a doo wop quintet. They managed to stay in the spotlight through the seventies, and numbers like this one are a prime reason why.
