Song of the Day – “Every Beat of My Heart” – Gladys Knight & The Pips

This performance of “Every Beat of My Heart” may have been in 1972, on “The Old Grey Whistle Test”, but the original is obviously from much earlier. The song was written by Johnny Otis for The Royals in 1954, and Knight and the Pips covered it in 1961 for their first national hit. Gladys would have been 17 at the time.
