Song of the Day – “Name’s the same” Tuesday – “I Wanna Be Loved”

Elvis Costello – The Andrews Sisters

With decades of output, there are going to be some clinkers. Goodbye Crual World, with its lifeless production from Langer and Winstanley, was definitely a clinker for Costello. But there are a few decent songs in this mid-eighties entry, and I like this one and “The Only Flame in Town”, the duet with Daryl Hall. It would be interesting to hear them without the wash of synthesizers.

Interesting concept for the video – it looks as though it’s sheer torture for Elvis to be kissed by multiple strangers!

I wanna be thrilled to desperation with Patti, Maxine and Laverne.
